My Hardware Specs

Some software information too!

Server (You are here)

This server is made of my old big rig, my first built desktop computer. Through the ages I've replaced everything except the CPU. Originally I hosted many servers on my Raspberry PI 3B, my pet http site[1] I made at age 18, and minecraft servers for friends. It worked well until seaweed was added to the game, I had to upgrade servers for seaweed.

The HTTPs server built with C++ using boost asio, somehow it's fragile enough to where I cannot recompile it, and frankly I want to re-write it in zig, an excessively fragile language; but I've gotten this gemsite working in zig and with less libraries, I feel pride in this version.

I would like to reinstall Debian, the disks are partitioned strangely and I've a newfound love for BTRFS. I also happen to have another discarded (better) CPU.

Computes, my personal computer

When upgrading from my last computer (the i3 above) I wanted a better CPU, however this upgrade required the AM4 slot, so a new motherboard was in order along with new DDR4 ram. Got a good deal on a 2080 right after the 30 series launched. Essentially everything was replaced, easier to build a new computer.

Every disk on this system formatted using BTRFS, with small FAT32 partition for uefi. I worry too much of the remaining space, I use BTRFS' transparent compress with a very fast lzo setting, still it reduces Arch's installation in half.

Most recently I enjoy playing the VR title Into the Radius 2, Dragon's Dogma 2, and Age of Mythology: Retold. Great performance on modern games, for most of my game development on Godot it feels excessive, but hot damn do 24 threads compile fast!

I switch between loving KDE and dwm desktop environments. I think the flow follows "I have some issues with dwm, because most windows do not like it's aggressive tiling" so I switch to KDE for a while. In the shower I think up a solution, maybe it works, maybe it doesn't, who cares, I'm back on dwm until it bothers me again. KDE is great, my heart belongs to dwm.

Alienware M14x R2

My old gamer laptop. Still getting use out of it, nearly every component appears decaying. The speakers and 3.5mm out do not work. The battery holds no charge. I've replaced several keys (not fun) and yet it still refuses some of my 'g' and 'a' presses. The plastic/rubber coating turned sticky, used 91% alcohol to dissolve it off. Even with fresh thermal paste it runs hot!

I find use for it demoing my projects, it takes Godot games like a champ (when using primusrun). Still I can't believe this thing ever ran games well. Torchlight II made it's mark on this machine, love those times.

Since building my first desktop this served as a Linux playground, my first spare computer. These days I've had trouble getting a more modern Debian to work with it's old graphics card.

Game-bino

This handheld emulation device was a Christmas gift from my beloved June. I need to update it's operating system to ROCKNIX[4] as JELOS has been out of development for years now, but I haven't had success flashing ROCKNIX so far.

Lovely to hold Starfox 64 in my hands.
